Description:
The Pharmacy Intern 1 is an entry level position designed to develop knowledge base and competency by providing experience in a progressive tiered fashion under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Opportunity to be promote to Pharmacy Intern 2 as progression through the professional years in a School/College of Pharmacy. Performs all drug distribution functions progressing to more advanced clinical assignments typically over a 4 year period (P1 – P4 years). Performs but not limited to: Preparing medications for dispensing both sterile and non-sterile compounds, stocking automated dispensing machines, delivering medications, performing admission medication histories, medication counseling and patient education. The intern 1 will assist in precepting pharmacy technicians and IPPE pharmacy students, participate in educational experiences, projects, and engage in scholarship. Pharmacy intern 1 ensures that patient care is provided under the supervision of a registered pharmacist through compliance with the department’s policies. The intern is employed, responsibilities carry over in the job description from one position to the next. Promotion from one level to the next is not guaranteed and will be based on performance.Qualifications:
Degrees: High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper Licenses & Certifications: Pharmacist Intern Additional Qualifications: Actively enrolled in a School/College of Pharmacy Professional Year 1 to 2. BS and/or college course work in pre-pharmacy or equivalent. Minimum Required Experience: 1
