The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Courier at UTower. The Courier is responsible for transporting patients safely and efficiently to and from all departments as coordinated. Able to operate transportation equipment (i.e., wheelchairs, stretchers, and E-cylinder oxygen tanks). Precise eye-hand coordination and dexterity for the ability to operate and adjust equipment. Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, co-workers, physicians. volunteers, and family members. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to recognize IV pump alarms during transport and notify appropriate personnel. Ability to visually assess patient’s general condition during transport. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, family members, and others, as needed. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
Minimum Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
· No experience necessary.
· Must have a BLS (American Heart Association-Healthcare Professional).
· Ability to establish effective patient rapport.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza (“the flu”) season (September through April), the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination.
