POSITION SUMMARY: This individual works as a team member with a case manager, foster parents, primary care giver, guardian ad litem and other appropriate professionals. The Family Support Specialist provides assistance, intervention and education which is focused upon resolving issues of abuse and neglect by assisting with the acquisition of services related to issues such as substance abuse, adjustment and relationship issues, stress, daily living skills, budget training and employment assistance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
When providing in-home support services, including participation and completion of case plans and other related and/or medical record/case file documentation within the required time limits according to Agency and/or CBC Project policy and procedure.
Provide Case Manager with the necessary verbal and written information to present at court, administrative staffings, permanency staffings, school staffings, treatment/service plan staffings and reviews, discharge staffings and planning, including information relative to the completion of the visitation plan, etc.
Attend and participate in court proceedings, as appropriate and/or when required (subpoena, direct request, and when Legal determines it necessary).
Attend and participate in staffing reviews, i.e., administrative staffings, permanency staffings, school staffings, treatment/service plan staffings and reviews, supervisory meetings, as appropriate, and according to Agency and/or CBC Project policy and procedure.
When providing in-home support services, maintain a minimum of one hour direct face-to-face contact weekly, through the provision of individual and/family consultation, with each of the assigned eligible children/families in the foster home, primary residence of the child and/or family, school, day care, preschool or any appropriate setting.
WHAT YOU NEED:
High School Diploma or equivalency from an accredited and recognized secondary education system. In addition, a minimum of one-year experience working with children and/or families within a need identified social welfare system. Child Welfare experience preferred.
