Associate – Claims Handler Full Time

The Claims Associate role at this level will act as a technical claims handler, taking responsibility for the operational and financial efficiency of a specific area of claims management, ensuring the relevant regulatory and technical standards are met, and that complex / major losses are identified and brought to the attention of senior claims leadership in a timely manner. There is a requirement to fully understand related activities and teams, as well as manage key stakeholders and client relationships, in order to ensure quality service.

The Role

Act as a claims handler for the team, resolving claims issues to the satisfaction of stakeholders and in line with service standards.
More challenging claims and / or claims issues are to be referred to the Claims Manager for Central America and Caribbean (CAC) in the first instance, with major and complex claims to be brought to the attention of the Regional Claims Leader for Latin America & Caribbean.
Maintain a personal portfolio of standard claims (with some more complex claims to be handled with mentoring), offering an excellent service to ensure personal goals are met, the needs of the clients are fully understood, and appropriate solutions enacted.
Play a significant role in raising the profile of claims management services provided and actively selling the offerings to both internal and external stakeholders.
Manages relationships with senior leaders across the business to identify opportunities for business development/service improvement and maximize the commercial value of the business unit.
Ensure that quality and compliance procedures and processes are adhered to and meet internal and external regulations.
Provide assistance and input to the CAC team in order to ensure that all service levels and targets are achieved and maintained.
Contribute to the development of skills within the claims management community to ensure the relevant capabilities are in place.
The Requirements

Previous experience in a (re)insurance claims handling role (i.e. broker, insurer, TPA).
Sound knowledge of the way facultative reinsurance risks are placed and, ideally, how the markets function across different geographies.
Sound knowledge of a variety of commercial risk and insurance products / lines of business and services, or expertise in a narrower area which can be developed on a multi-line basis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish is essential.
Excellent organizational skills and understanding of inter-departmental dependencies.
Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate at senior leadership level.
Excellent relationship management skills.
Broad commercial knowledge and a sound understanding of the business and sector, e.g. markets and carriers.
Computer literacy and knowledge of relevant systems / computer software.
Familiarity with relevant functional and company-wide procedures, policies and guidelines.
Relevant professional qualification preferred.
