Provides Ground service of aircrafts by preparing for aircraft arrival and departure; placing aircraft; loading and unloading cargo. Maintaining a safe and secure environment. Prepare for shift duties by reviewing flight schedules and departures; inspecting and coordinating use of equipment. Preparing for aircraft arrival by readying equipment such as tow vehicles, wheel chocks, and belt-loaders; taking positions; removing debris from tarmac.
- Places aircrafts by guiding pilots to move and stop using hand electronic signals. Secure aircraft by placing wheel chocks; guiding jetbridge or placing stair ramps to aircraft door; opening and latching exit doors; tying propellers; connecting communications and power. Prepares aircraft for departure by loading cargo that is in ULD’s onto the aircraft or loose cargo into the belly of the aircraft; removing wheel chocks and other securing, communications; sorting and scanning cargo and loading into ULD’s; loading and unloading cargo from small feeder aircrafts; deicing wings; guiding pilots to leave area using hand and electronic signals; operating tow vehicles to push back aircraft.

Required Skills:
Cognitive skills to process customs paperwork on international shipments.
Cognitive skills to check cargo against accompanying forms to identify mishandling or discrepancies.

Driving vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in areas congested with aircraft, moving and stationary vehicles and equipment as well as positioning vehicle up to aircraft requiring depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors, red, green, and yellow.
Load and unload cargo onto delivery trucks.
Transport cargo to and from aircraft driving 3,000 lb. vehicle using depth perception to negotiate vehicle with attached carts through congested area. Read “off-load” sheets to determine destination of cargo.
Ability to judge distances.
Ability to successfully communicate with others.
Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings, with and without, assistance of sight or visual aids.
Ability to confront and question unauthorized personnel in secured areas and report their presence to authorities as necessary.
Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.’
