Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic I Full Time

We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic I working within the Meat Department based out of our warehouse located in Lancaster, TX. The Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic I must manage and maintain the integrity of our ammonia system and ensure the plant refrigeration has all needed preventive maintenance performed in a timely manner. They should be able to work on the screw compressors, condensers, water pumps, valves, penthouses and RTUs and any component that is involved in keeping our product properly chilled. This person will also be trained on all PHA/PSM and it would be a plus if they are able to make program suggestions to their immediate supervisor to ensure compliance with all regulating authorities. In addition to the ammonia system, this individual will also be required to assist the rest of the meat maintenance team in the preventative maintenance (PM’s) and upkeep of the rest of the building infrastructure including all HVAC, lighting, waste water and production needs when called upon to assist. Cross training on production room equipment will be required to assist the team when needed.

General Responsibilities

  • Daily health checks of the ammonia system
  • Preventative maintenance on all components of the ammonia system.
  • Repair work on faulting components in the ammonia system
  • Document and maintain all work performed in our Meat Maintenance System including PM work and checks
  • Assist on all other production and building related PM’s and maintenance.
  • Help with production equipment repair

Work Schedule + Benefits

  • Full-time position, Hourly (non-exempt), 40 hours per week
  • May vary according to the needs of the business, typically 6:00 am-2:30 pm or 10:00am – 6:30pm.
  • Some overtime as needed
  • 5 days per week: Sunday-Thursday
  • Depending on service needs, it may require after hours support and work 1-2 times per month
  • Weekend and holiday availability required

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years minimum in Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic role
  • Basic electrical, PLC, refrigeration and mechanical experience required
  • Ammonia Operator I/II Certification, RETA CIRO, RETA CRST would be a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Software
  • Ability to move freely in and around obstacles common in the meat production room

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs to 100 lbs
  • Cold working conditions – Ability to withstand prolonged work assignments in temperatures as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit; Temperature fluctuations in the warehouse
  • Ability to move freely in and around obstacles common in the meat production room
