Casa Nela is seeking an Assistant Baker for Rosemary’s Pantry. Nestled in Stuytown, The Pantry provides a counter service of Rosemary’s authentic Italian cuisine. The Pantry offers specialty coffee drinks, laminated pastries, and sandwiches, while also providing provisions to be enjoyed on the go or at home.
The Assistant Baker will aid the Head Baker managing the production team and prep for pantry service. This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced or lead pastry cook looking to gain management experience! The right person for this role must be highly reliable — as you will be among the first to arrive, as early as 4am!
Other Responsibilities Include-
*Assist in managing the production of artisan pastries, laminated doughs, and breads daily
*Familiarization with scaling recipes, portioning, shaping, proofing and other techniques while ensuring consistency and standardization of recipes
*Maintains high levels of cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas, adhering to Department of Health standards and company policy
*Works closely with the Head Baker creating proactive solutions should issues in quality, quantity, or ingredients arise
*Comfortable using kitchen tools and equipment such as: stand mixers, convection/deck ovens, cutting tools, rolling pins, electric scales, etc.
