The Holiday Inn Resort is located on the beach on Galveston Island and features 178 guest rooms. Other amenities include a three meal restaurant, a lounge, outdoor pool and workout facility.
The Busperson is responsible for assisting the servers in providing the highest quality service possible to guests while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hours of operation.
Qualification Standards
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
Physical requirements:
Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Able to stand during entire shift.
Mental Requirements:
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Must be able to multi task.
Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
Must routinely meet deadlines.
Duties & Functions
Essential:
Approach all encounters with associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
Comply at all times with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
Associates must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
Ensure compliance of all policies and Code of Conduct as specified in the Associate Handbook.
Be familiar with organization of the Jetty Restaurant and lounge.
Responsible for general sanitation of the Jetty Restaurant and Buffet, the kitchen’s service area before, during and after the hours of operation.
Assist servers with service at their tables by refilling beverages.
May be requested to bring food to tables.
Take soiled dish trays to the dish room.
Clear and clean tables.
Replenish the buffet items and keep buffet clean.
Reset tables.
Perform closing side work duties.
Be familiar with fire exit locations.
Be familiar with fire extinguisher locations and know how to operate them in the restaurant/kitchen.
Follow all safety rules.
Assist in setting up the lounge as needed.
Deliver room service orders to guest room as needed.
