The Kitchen Manager provides direct leadership to the kitchen staff, assists in coordinating catering & events, on-site and off-site. Assists with the creation of kitchen staff policies and systems. Maintains an efficient, clean, and orderly restaurant. Provides direct enforcement of staff policies and building cleanliness. Assists CDC with any administrative needs and maintains systems in CDC’s absence. Evening availability is required. We are looking for a leader with a proven track record of coaching and training. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all kitchen staff policies (smoking, dress code, tardiness, music volume, etc)
  • Enforce and/or create cleaning systems for kitchen, storage areas, the walkins and the dishpit.
  • Manage checklists for each kitchen station
  • Provide direct leadership during shift (particularly during peak hours)
  • Hands-on training with staff, including dish crew
  • Assist CDC with execution of AM and PM specials
  • Ordering, controlling costs and waste
  • Special projects as assigned by the CDC or GM
  • Filling in schedule holes as needed, within reason
  • Assistance with check-ins, performance reviews, pay-rate evaluations

Communication:

  • Available to all kitchen staff for any food or personnel related matter
  • Available to all FOH for any food related or kitchen systems question
  • Weekly check in with GM
  • Weekly manager meeting

Evaluation Metrics:

  • Customer reviews regarding quality of food
  • COGS and Labor numbers
  • Employee feedback regarding workplace environment, staff morale, and smoothness of operations
  • Whether or not kitchen supplies are appropriately stocked (no surplus or shortage of goods)
