Essential Functions

Makes scheduled rounds at assigned park areas and facilities; opens and closes parks and facilities throughout the City; performs a variety of duties associated with the daily maintenance of park areas and facilities including, cleaning rest rooms, pavilions, and other facilities, picking up and removing trash and debris, blowing off walkways and facilities, etc.
Performs general inspection of park areas, grounds, trails, equipment, and facilities; reports more complicated maintenance needs to supervisor.
Assists the public with matters of park usage, enforces park rules and regulations in a tactful manner and when necessary notifies proper authorities of violations and assists such authorities to the extent permitted;
Assists with department programs and maintenance of park displays; assist with the preparation of park areas, facilities or buildings prior to events; secures park areas, facilities, and buildings afterward.
Operates light vehicles and other equipment as necessary.
Maintains logs and prepares reports.
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A minimum of one (1) year experience preferably in a parks operations/maintenance work preferred. Customer service experience preferred. Requires possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver”s license. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KSA’s: – Knowledge of rules, regulations, ordinances and laws relating to the conduct of persons utilizing a public park or recreational facility.
General knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment employed in park operations and maintenance.
Ability to make sound decision in emergency situations and to react quickly and calmly with an effective course of action.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
Ability to complete reports, forms, permits, records, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
Ability to comprehend or understand instructions and underlying principles; to reason and make judgments; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to make decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies; to guide and/or give instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and other employees and to tactfully but firmly maintain order within the park facilities.
Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines. Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds), and including but not limited to extensive walking. Requires ability to work outside under varying climatic conditions.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Most work is performed in an outdoor environment with potential for exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat, humidity, toxic agents, inclement weather. Work involves an element of personal danger where heightened awareness to surroundings and the ability to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment. Disclaimer
