Maxine’s on Shine is an award-winning restaurant that is locally owned and operated. We were just named “Best Downtown Restaurant” in the Best Of Orlando awards in Orlando Magazine for 2021….not too shabby for the little restaurant that would! Tucked away in a neighborhood, 337 n shine ave is located in Colonialtown South in the heart of The City Beautiful. Founded in 2012 as Maxine’s on Shine, we are on the cusp of celebrating our 10th year in business here as an authentic neighborhood restaurant. Our commitment to the community is providing a safe, fun, and engaging environment for residents and visitors to enjoy life is good in our neighborhood! Courtesy, communication, and commitment are essential in our work together and with our guests as stewards of our location and opportunity to do so. Owners, Kirt & Maxine Earhart, are very passionate and present in this commitment, and thank you for considering us in bringing your skills and passions to our family.
We need to add another member to the culinary part of our family. This position is a fulltime position approximately 35-45 hours weekly between Wednesday and Sunday (majority of time being Friday thru Sunday). Our culinary team is led by Dining Hall of Fame Chef and Local Legend, George Vogelbacher. Google him…awesome! Jesse Nelson, whose experience in Winter Park and Downtown Orlando has led him to be our Kitchen Manager, and he guides our passionate, considerate, and professional crew during service. The small, yet diverse menu is created almost entirely from scratch. We call it “American Neighborhood Cuisine”. Think of going to a friend’s house for dinner…they might have steak…fish…pasta…salad…light bites…dessert…but, probably not a lot of different choices in each area. The emphasis would be on making each one right and celebrating the passions of life together. And don’t forget brunch, where we had a hunch, the good people of Orlando would like to munch on great food, drinks, and times too. Best Brunch in Orlando…we’ve won a few. That’s the idea behind our food…award winning, comfortable, delicious, and inspiring for those that put their professional efforts into it… a true “win-win” for all.
We offer dinner service Wednesday thru Saturday seating from 5p till 9pm, and our Rejuicination Brunch is offered Friday thru Sunday from 10 till 3. All reservations are 2 hours, so generally we do not serve past 11p at night. Maxine’s is closed Monday and Tuesday…you need days off too, just like everyone else. We also close Thanksgiving and Christmas days as well as two times a year for a break for everyone. Family meal and a shift drink are part of the nightly perks as we decompress together.
HERE IS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are a small team in a small kitchen that utilizes each members abilities. What we mean by that is being assigned different roles on different nights…keep it fresh, invigorating, and connected with the rest of the crew. WE ARE NOT asking you to be overtasked on a single shift and covering multiple stations…no good for you, quality of food, and our guests.
Experience with saute, grill, and pantry is required. Egg skills are a bonus and provide a better opportunity with us as brunch service, with benedicts and omelets being imperative to a top brunch destination in Orlando! IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE IN ALL AREAS, STILL APPLY AS WE DO HAVE NEED FOR PART-TIME, AND WITH CROSS-TRAINING, FULL-TIME HOURS CAN BE ACHIEVED.
While no one position is any more important than the next in working together; experience, and ability to work more than one station, provides the opportunity for more hours and compensation. TO BE CLEAR…HIGHER WAGES ARE PAID PER SHIFT BASED UPON LINE POSTION WORKED. SAUTE AND GRILL REQUIRE MORE ABILITIES IN COOKING VERSUS ASSEMBLY AND HEATING IN PANTRY OR EXPO. Total compensation of our “ONE HOUSE” policy will be discussed in interview.
Saute, grill/fry, and pantry stations are 1 person stations each, except for an additional pantry/dessert person on busier shifts. All line positions are utilized during both brunch and dinner. Production during the day, window expo, and food runner are additional roles that will/may be assigned. Total team effort in ensuring everyone gets the hours they need, and we perform the job efficiently to our standards.
Great attitude, timeliness, following recipes and procedures, daily cleaning and storing responsibilities are essential and required. You want it that way too as a professional.
We are a very open-minded establishment in a progressive and loving community within the heart of The City Beautiful. Our home is powered by love and acceptance of one another, and embodied in an environment that generates a positive, safe, respectful, and professional vibe for all. No bs or intimidation is allowed…zero! Life is hard, we get it. In the time we share together, we focus on the positive, acknowledge the negative, address, and get back to the positive experience for all involved.
REGARDING COVID-19: Our entire family at Maxine’s on Shine, has committed to the utmost in safety since its beginning here in the US last year. All of us are vaccinated, including performers who play here. This is not a political statement, but merely being a good human and protecting each other, and our abilities to provide for ourselves and our families. We are still “masking up” in every position. Your compliance to these standards is a requirement to be considered for employment opportunity with us.
Please send resume and contact information to schedule an appointment w/ Kirt “Mr. Maxine”. We also suggest checking out our website www.maxinesonshine.com for more info, look at google or yelp reviews, and our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, prior to applying.
