R40 is a Michelin awarded fine casual neighborhood restaurant. We are family owned by immigrants and first generation latino americans.

Our restaurant serves progressive Argentinian fare in the heart of Long Island City and we consist of a small team of about 8 FOH staff, 3 line cooks, 1 dishwasher and a prep cook. We are an all hands on deck kind of joint, looking for someone to immerse themselves with us and lead us through the trenches of service while also comitting to administrative duties.

We have a small wine cellar focused on Argentinian wines so wine knowledge is a plus! We also pride ourselves in craft cocktails and local beers!

We are looking for candidates with a genuine appreciation for the hospitality business and a professional work ethic.

Great communication skills is required on all departments, major plus if you speak spanish as it is the native tongue of most of our team members

We are looking for candidates that will passionately embody our brand, vision, and high level of hospitality, and act as ambassadors to our food and beverage programs.

Someone accountable, responsible, and organized is of the utmost importance.

The work is not as fast paced as a manhattan restaurant or bustling greenpoint but this offers a great opportunity to expand your knowledge, give great service and focus on the details implemented by the owners. Again, we are a family owned restaurant and not a corporation and so we seek someone flexible but knowledgeable.

We are committed to unique, respectfully sourced and harvested products, and are technique driven. We are seeking individuals who are committed to excellence and working at the highest levels! Be expected to work weekends and holidays, and BOTH brunch and dinner shifts. We have not yet opened for brunch as we are looking for a leader to run the show.

A large component of this job is managing the restaurant ALONE. There is little to no micro management from owners, we just require that all steps of service, S.O.P’s, and standards implemented are strictly maintained, upheld and improved upon. With that being said, we are looking for a STRONG leader that can work independently and able to make decisions that are for the best interest of the restaurant.

Even though we are a small business, we are looking for someone who can potentially grow with us and step up to a GM role and really rock out the restaurant in the near future. The owners are looking to expand and open other locations and so opportunities are endless.

We’re open 6 days a week and while you may need to work some longer hours some weeks, it is mostly a 40-45 hour work week. It truly depends on the management skills you bring to the table and how well of a leader you are.

Chef Owner Giovanni especially believes in Work/Life balance. We can promise you’ll feel happy, safe, refreshed and comfortable while working at R40. Sometimes you will be called to arms but you will never be burned out. If you come from a larger restuarant group looking for something a little less stressful, R40 is just the place. The clients are easy going, the space is beautiful, the food is delclious and the staff truly is a family. With that being said, we do expect highly of our manager and staff to uphold our fine casual standards and maintain professionality.

-Liquor & Wine Inventory
-Costing
-Paying bills
-Going to the bank
-Closing the restaurant
-Balancing register and closing out register
-Other duties assigned by owners
