Lead Lighting and Compositing Artist – NA4 Full Time

The Lead Lighting and Compositing Artist is responsible for working with the Lighting Supervisor to achieve the film’s lighting rig setups. The Lead Lighting and Compositing Artist will consult with the Lighting Supervisor, Director, and CG Supervisor regarding implementing lighting and lighting design ideas technically through lighting rig setups. He/she will act as a manager and mentor to his/her assigned lighting team, helping to keep consistency, continuity, and quality to the specifications of the Lighting Supervisor, Director, Production Designer and CG Supervisor.
Responsabilités
Work within and mentor his/her assigned lighting team, completing lighting rig setups as directed by the Lighting Supervisor, passing his defined lighting rigs down to the lighters completing the final shot lighting using that rig.
While working with the Lighting Supervisor, Translate the lighting creative demands of the production and scenes delegated to him into defined lighting rigs which are workable, flexible, and which creatively meet the vision of the Director / Production Designer.
Observe ideas and department continuity / maintain consistency.
Review and ensure that the lighting direction and use of defined lighting rigs is adhered to by other junior team members.
Mentor junior lighting team members on their methods to achieve the production’s goals, creatively and technically.
While working with the Lighting Supervisor, work with Compositing Supervisor, and FX Supervisor to ensure lighting rigs are serving the purposes of other departments, and can be rendered within the scope of the film’s technical infrastructure.
Assist the Lighting Supervisor communicate with the Manager, Production Technology, on the development of larger software requisites which affect the look and lighting within the production.
Qualifications
Degree/diploma in fine arts or equivalent experience
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Lighting and Compositing Artist (or equivalent)
Experience leading small to large teams while maintaining individual shot assignments
Experience reviewing shot continuity, lighting set-ups
Experience with/reliable familiarity of raytraced lighting (Octane, Arnold, Renderman, VRAY, redshift, etc)
Efficient in set-up of lit scenes —> workflow will be lighting shots “to camera”, with raw renders providing the majority of our beauty layers, minimizing multiple passes
Houdini knowledge a plus, but not required.
Proficient in compositing within Nuke
Strong internet connection for remote work
Strong organization skills (shot quotas will be high)
Previous episodic experience a plus, not required
