Job Summary:
This female owned and operated business is searching for an ambitious line cook to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a new concept with two operations under one roof. You will work closely with our owners and GM to maintain BOH operating procedures for the retail and bar concepts. We’re looking for someone who is self motivated and proactive to complete tasks, and open to all duties to keep a kitchen organized and running. .
The line cook is responsible for:
~Assist in inventory management and stocking inventory appropriately.
~Prepare stations with all necessary supplies and mise en place.
~Store mise-en place and inventory according to company standards.
~Execute prep work to support the operations of the market and restaurant offerings, including some prep for the bar team as well.
~Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the staff and in compliance with recipes/standards.
~Lead kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, portioning, and packaging.
~Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, assisting in deep cleaning (all in accordance to DOH standards).
~Ensure consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
~Display versatility and efficiency in preparing dishes for a busy evening service.
~Maintain a professional restaurant image including proper uniforms and appearance standards.
~Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws/ordinances
~Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Cook Requirements and Qualifications:
~Proven experience as line cook (3+ years in commercial kitchen preferred).
~Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
~Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
~Team player with good communication skills. Openness to taking on various roles in the kitchen including prep, line cook responsibilities, dishwashing, and other kitchen responsibilities presented to you.
~Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
~Willingness to work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment.
~Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50+ pounds. ‘
~Must have all food handling NYC certifications (course information to be provided by owners).
~High school diploma or equivalent is desirable – training from a culinary school is preferred.
