Position Summary
The Maître D’/Hospitality Asst. Manager – is responsible for the management and execution of Hospitality and day to day experiences at Arch & Tower including but not limited to all reservations, events, and special occasions. This position also oversees the Event and Wine Education teams at Arch & Tower while providing guidance and direction in a manner consistent with the image, style and values of Robert Mondavi and Constellation Brands.
Responsibilities
- In partnership with Director of Hospitality – develop, support and manage hospitality leadership team at RMW managing the pillars of the business: hospitality operations, guest relations, culinary program execution and events
- Lead weekly team meetings
- Develop annual goals measured against business KPI’s
- Manage team’s training and education strategy
- Drive innovative and strategic guest programming that surprise, delight, and educate
- Support Hospitality Operations Manager with execution of daily experiences and events
- Serve as a partner to VC staff, delivering wine club sign-ups, revenue, and operating profit to plan.
- Manage Wine Education staff in developing world-class educational visitor programs
- Maintain a professional image while managing fine dining service for all meals and events in the Winery as well as off site areas
- Manage protocol and procedures for winery events and trade including staffing (temporary and regular) logistics
- Manage trade, press, and consumer event logistics including functioning as the lead for the event, service, budgeting, supervising, and participating in set up and break down, chef communication, staffing, rentals, wine, decor, and agendas
- Support all experience areas as needed by guest seating in real-time, coordinates table seating in response to reservations and walk-in requests.
- Assure the Hospitality environments are clean, safe and always maintains the highest level of appearance
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a high-volume special events operation with management expertise
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience preferably in the area(s) of wine, food, and/or hospitality service management
- Must have excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Knowledge of and passion for wine and the culinary arts as well as providing world-class guest experiences.
- Experience with building and managing to department budgets and financial reporting
- Must be organized and possess strong project management skills
- Knowledge of wine and food service standards of customer service
- Experience with educational program design
- Intermediate to advanced PC skills including Microsoft Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience with Property Management System software
- WSET Level 2 or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- TIPS certified
- Food Service Manager certified
- Experience in hotel or restaurant work
- Knowledge and experience of elevated level wine and food service standards and an understanding of luxury décor and presentation
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The employee frequently is required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and bending are required.
Work Environment: Working conditions at an event may require the employee to be outside for extended periods of time and/or occasionally in a kitchen with slippery floors. Irregular shifts, nights, weekends, and long hours may be required, particularly when working an event.
