POSITION PURPOSE
Provide nail care services such as manicures and pedicures to guests. Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assess guest needs, inquire about contraindications, and examine skin, hair, or nails to evaluate condition, appearance, and appropriateness of scheduled service.
2. Determine and advise guests on proper skin, hair, or nail care.
3. Demonstrate, promote, and sell spa/salon retail products.
4. Answer questions about general property information and amenities. Escort guests to and from treatment rooms.
5. Check with guest to ensure continued comfort throughout service.
6. Monitor and stick to time schedule throughout the day.
7. Clean, maintain, and sterilize tools and equipment.
8. Maintain cleanliness of workstation and/or treatment room throughout shift.
9. Dispose of trash and dirty linens in the proper area.
10. Secure supplies and equipment at the end of each shift.
11. Maintain current licensure in service area.
12. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications.
13. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
14. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; thank guests with genuine appreciation.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Experienced and comfortable making professional nail care recommendations.
· Highly skilled in natural nail services and shellac application
· Well versed in all aspects of nail care; Nail art skills are an asset
· Ability to multi-task and organize time effectively and efficiently
· Able to perform a practical interview to demonstrate skill level
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes availability for holidays and weekend shifts.
· Must be available to work a schedule that ranges from 5 hours to 20 hours per week.
· Outstanding customer service skills and active listening skills.
· Basic knowledge of MS Word, internet and email functions.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
· Exude a professional demeanor and appearance.
· Must be available to attend monthly staff meetings.
Physical Demands
· Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to sit, lean over, and bend while performing nail services.
· Must be able to perform massage techniques using moderate physical strength and proper body mechanics during nail services.
· Must be able to work with consecutive appointments with a 10 minute break between.
· Must be able to reach, bend, twist, pull, and stoop;
· Must be able to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight.
· Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education
· Certification/training at a recognized esthetics school/beauty school required
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a spa/salon setting, private practice, or other experience applies.
Licenses or Certificates
· Must have a current State of California Manicurist License.
· Must have a current personal liability manicurist/nail technician insurance policy.
Grooming
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad’s standards.
Attendance:
