Job Description:
Acts as the primary secretarial resource for the charge nurse and nursing unit. May assist in ordering supplies, identifies supply needs and other duties as assigned duties. Is responsible for the smooth operation of all secretarial functions. Directs communication with the nursing unit. Utilizes the computer system to enter patient information and to place required orders and patient requests.
Reviews all physicians’ orders for STAT/NOW/Discharge/Pending discharge orders and processes immediately.
Accurately transcribes physician’s orders from the chart to proper patient electronic medical record using computer order entry system.
Monitors the adequate compliance of protocol for verification of verbal or telephone orders, or other type of communication and reports findings that do not meet standard procedures.
Submits maintenance work orders in timely manner, including Biomed equipment repairs.
Displays telephone courtesy, answers promptly. Prioritizes and communicates telephone messages to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Consistently identifies and accurately communicates patient safety information such as known allergies, history of falls, risk for skin breakdown, risk for injury and other key information to promote a safe environment of care.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or the equivalent
Associates/ Technical degree preferred
0-2 years of relevant experience
