Parks Aide – Part-time 19 – Vista View Park Part Time

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Parks Aide – Part-Time 19 at Vista View Park.

This Job Announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received.
General Description
Performs a variety of park maintenance and program implementation activities at assigned facilities.
Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires six (6) months in general grounds and facility maintenance, customer service, recreational activities, and/or a point of sale system based on area of assignment or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required:
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver’s License with authority to drive a county vehicle for duration of appointment.

Preferences:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information:

Ability to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Maintains a variety of park and landscape areas in order to ensure that grounds and landscape areas are presentable, clean, and safe; cleans offices, break rooms, restrooms, recreation centers/halls, pavilions, tables/chairs, and related areas/facilities in order to provide a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for work/recreation.

Interacts with the public and other County employees in order to give directions or information, explains work activities/procedures, identifies service needs, and/or resolves day-to-day operational issues.

Inspects park facilities, including play areas, buildings, parking areas, in order to ensure a safe work and recreation environment for employees and the public; performs a variety of facility maintenance work in order to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary environment for the public and County employees.

Sets up and takes down temporary facilities for meetings and special activities and events in order to provide a safe, comfortable location for special events/activities.

Picks up and delivers a variety of items to appropriate locations in order to ensure supplies and materials are available where and when needed and/or delivers mail.

Performs related work as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to traffic; moving machinery; toxic/caustic chemicals.

Duties for this position might include heavy manual labor for extended periods, including working in hot, humid, sunny, and dusty conditions, and from heights and uneven surfaces, as required by work assignments.
