The Part-Time Audio Specialist assembles, operates, repairs and maintains the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound. The Part-Time Audio Specialist identifies sound requirements for a given assignment, takes appropriate action to produce the expected sound and balances, mixes, edits and enhances pre-recorded audio.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provides assessment of acoustics of the performance area, assembles and operates the necessary equipment Determines sound requirements in consultation with the Department Chair Selects, positions, adjusts and operates equipment used for amplification and recording Applies technical knowledge of sound recording equipment used for amplification and recording Records sound onto digital audio files Monitors audio signals to detect audio files Anticipates and corrects sound problems Composes original soundtracks for film and video games, as needed Maintains and repairs equipment Synchronizes pre-recorded audio (dialogue, sound effects and music) with visual content Creates and alters sounds effects for use in films, television, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution and (2) two years of related work experience
All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures Knowledge of planning and managing a recording session Ability to distinguish sound quality Proficiency working with digital audio workstations (Pro Tools, Logic, etc.) and Window systems Ability to determine the proper tools and equipment necessary to do a job Knowledge of fine arts theory and techniques required to compose, produce, and perform works of music, voice and effects Ability to troubleshoot operating errors and take proper action Ability to work in a team setting and interact with people effectively and courteously Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines Ability to assess and provide guidance to students on the use of education software Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assigned hours
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
