RTI International (RTI) is currently seeking a part-time Field Representatives to work on a government-sponsored research study. Field representatives will work on the Survey of Youth Transitioning from Foster Care and will be responsible for conducting telephone interviews and conducting field tracing activities with selected young adults.
Position Summary
Field Representatives will work on the Survey of Youth Transitioning from Foster Care (SYTFC) research study and will be responsible for conducting computer-assisted telephone interviews with young adults with foster care experiences.
Position Type
This position is part-time offering roughly 15 hours per week between April 2021-October 2021. We are interested in individuals who can work flexible hours, most hours being in the evening and weekend, and who can commit to the duration of the project.

Responsibilities and Availability
Conduct valid, high quality computer-assisted telephone interviews that involves reading interview scripts and questions verbatim, transitioning young adults to a web portion of the survey, and adhering to all project protocols covered at training and documented in the training manual.
Be available to conduct telephone interviews during the data collection period, which is currently scheduled for April 2021 through October 2021.
Adhere to a schedule set by your Field Manager that ensures respondents are contacted in a timely manner.
Commit to at least 15 hours per week, but sometimes 25 hours per week (in weeks involving field tracing travel). Please note the number of hours in each work week may fluctuate depending on case load.
Work a flexible schedule that includes weekday and night shifts and weekend day and night shifts.
Must be able to spend at least 4 hours in the field locating and contacting selected respondents when the assignment requires field tracing work due to unresponsive or difficult to locate cases.
Must be able to travel up to 4 hours or 200 miles round trip to make field visits.
Must be willing to agree to any COVID-19 related protocols put in place by RTI when conducting field tracing work. This could include, wearing face coverings, gloves, taking temperatures daily, social distancing when conducting field tracing activities, and/or completing a health pledge. All safety supplies required for use on the project will be provided by RTI.
Qualifications
High school graduate or GED.
Have experience conducting telephone/web interviews.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age by the first date of employment.
Availability for travel by personal automobile as specifically required for data collection.
A valid drivers’ license and automobile insurance as required by your state.
Positive, self-motivated.
Effective interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
Experience using a laptop computer.
Reliable personal automobile available for business use.
Have regular access to an in-home internet connection for data transmissions.
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
Preferred Qualifications
One year experience directly or indirectly related to interviewing respondents is preferred.
At least one year of experience with field tracing and locating selected respondents.
Have experience working with teenagers or young adults in the child welfare system.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to go up and down stairs to conduct field tracing activities to generate new locating leads for sample members.
Must be able to wear RTI provided face coverings for periods of time, as may be required by RTI for purposes of COVID-19.
Required Training
An online training session is scheduled; specific dates to be determined. Attendance at training is mandatory. Completion of training marked by a passing score on a certification is required to continue with the project. Must be able to join online trainings via Zoom. Must have reliable internet.
Compensation
This position falls under the U.S. Department of Labor Service Contract Act (SCA). Hourly wage will be determined based on the county in which work is being performed. In addition to hourly pay, a Health and Welfare stipend of $4.27 per hour will be provided for up to 40 hours per week.
Project-related mileage would be reimbursed at the government rate, currently $.56/mile.
