Part-Time Recreation Counselor Part Time

Job Duties and Responsibilities:Coral Gables operates under a commission/manager form of government and is well known for its active and involved citizenry. The Part-Time Youth Center Recreation Counselor is responsible to supervise, conduct and actively participate in recreational activities, arts & crafts and special events. Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility and equipment. Maintain supply and equipment inventory control. In addition, oversee activity and attendance records as well as maintain order and discipline of program participants and ensure that all safety precautions are observed and followed.

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of community youth recreation programs, techniques, rules and equipment used in a variety of recreational activities and games. Ability to work effectively, compassionately and creatively with youth. Must also have the ability to work within a team environment giving directions when needed and following the direction of others as required. Must also be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:Candidates must be a minimum of 17 years of age with a high school diploma. Experience in working with children of various ages in a recreation setting preferred. Certification in an approved first aid and CPR course preferred.
