JOB DESCRIPTION
The Pastry Cook will be responsible for executing prep and plating duties in and for the Pastry department, preparing high-quality food that meets the head chef’s standards during service, and ensuring that your station is sanitary and well-stocked at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Most work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Extreme temperature changes maybe possible, as we have a patio and the pool which are outside. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
Position requires walking and taking direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and work at a quick pace for up to 8 hours at a time. Length of time of each task may vary from day to day and task to task. Some tasks will be repetitive and performed on a daily basis, while other tasks will be novel and require you to think on your feet and pick up new information quickly.
Must exhibit sense of urgency to reach different areas of the roof and other departments of the restaurant in a timely manner.
Must be able and prepared to work quickly and efficiently in limited space.
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. Job frequently requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening & hearing ability, and visual acuity
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates
ESSENTIAL:
Arriving on time for scheduled shifts. This means being on your station and ready to work, not just walking in the door.
Being dependable and communicating any issues that may hinder you from doing your job to the required standards.
Preparing specific food items and meal components at your station.
Following directions provided by the head chef.
Being flexible and open-minded. Things change quickly and often and you must be able to roll with some things being a work in progress.
Collaborating with the rest of the culinary team to ensure high-quality food and service.
Keeping your area of the kitchen safe and sanitary.
Alerting management to low inventory in a timely manner.
Improving your food preparation methods based on feedback.
Assisting in other areas of the kitchen as needed.
OTHER:
Communicate respectfully with all staff members and guests
Participate in pre-service lineups
Support Chefs and FOH Operations to insure restaurant service exceeds the guests’ expectations
Conduct self with a high level of integrity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour
