CORE JOB SUMMARY

 

The Patient Screener welcomes visitors (i.e. vendors, customers, patients, staff, students etc.) to the department by greeting them and ensures they abide by all visitor policies. This job conducts the initial screening of visitors, using the appropriate protocol and distributes any needed personal protective equipment.

 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Greets patients/visitors upon arrival at building entrances. Enforces current visitor policy. Conducts initial screening utilizing approved screening questionnaire. Directs patient/visitor appropriately based on screening responses. Distributes appropriate sticker, indicating the level of personal protective equipment (PPE) required. Provides hospital approved mask to those entering building with instructions that it must be worn in our facility. Provides instructions to use hand hygiene dispensers before entering building. Ensures proper physical distancing is always maintained following established guidelines. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand. Works with site leaders to resolve unique situations and troubleshoot issues that may arise. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

 

Certification and Licensing:

N/A

 

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

General knowledge of office procedures and operations
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary
Department Specific Functions

 

Assists with directing the patient/employee to the appropriate station to receive vaccine Directs the patient/employee to the designated observation area Ensures that patient/employee waits the appropriate length of time in the observation area Assists the patient/employee with scheduling their return appointment before they leave the observation area Answers all questions the patient/employee may have and escalate when appropriate Warmly thank the patient/employee at the end of the observation time and escort them to the designated exit.
