Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring FSMA Sanitary Transportation Controls. This position assists in the warehouse inspection program and the warehouse sampling program and needs to have knowledge of quality control and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections of incoming grocery Items as needed
- Monitor the warehouses compliance with SOP’s
- Monitor weekly temperatures logs
- Conduct monthly audits for Atalanta’s Elizabeth warehouses
- Work with warehouse management to keep the warehouse “audit ready”
- Facilitate recalls and external 3rd party audits
- Coordinate compliance with Sanitary Transport FSMA regulations
- Work with QA team on Sampling program – periodic, customer complaints, and new items
- Work with Quality/Food Safety team on warehouse compliance with FSMA as needed
- Work with pest control to document issues and corrective actions, communicating with maintenance and warehouse management
- Request and review CTAP questionnaires
- Back up for perishable Q.A. Specialist and USDA Inspection Coordinator
- Assist QA team with label review on warehoused products
- Participate in customer complaint investigation and response
Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in food science or related field;
- 1+ years of experience in the Food Industry;
- Working knowledge and understanding of food microbiology and food manufacturing;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Exceptional organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and autonomously;
- Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements;
- Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail;
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook and Excel) and Adobe.
- Ability to learn/work with proprietary software
