J&C Tropicals, a well-established and growing national tropical produce distributor is looking for a Shipping Clerk who will coordinate the flow of customer orders, priorities and the timely shipping of all customer orders in the Shipping Dept. The Shipping Clerk ensures that all shipping documents are accurate and complete. Communicates constantly with the transportation manager, sales associates, shift supervisor and carriers to assign ETA times for pickups. Ensures inventory accuracy and proper product rotation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitor the Shipping List Screen for any new orders that are generated and identify priorities and or potential issues.
Review daily inventory to determine the appropriate lots to be used to fulfill pending orders.
Review open orders in the system and assign the appropriate lots to be used to fulfill the orders. Prioritize orders to be prepared based on inventory levels, product rotation and ETA.
Keep constant communication with the shift supervisor to maximize loading efficiency and ensure truck checkout time of 30 minutes or less.
Update the status of orders in Famous from ordered to reserved if the order is prepared prior to the trucks arrival, prepares the paperwork pending truck arrival.
Updates Check in time & Check out time in the Famous Shipping Screen. Manage the drivers at check-in and check-out, stage trailers accordingly. Create the necessary documentation to ensure compliance.
Review the picker and checker paperwork and input the lot #, tag # and quantity information in Famous. Check out the truck or investigate any issues and communicate any discrepancies to the shift supervisor and or transportation manager.
Before shipping the order make sure that all the needed documentation is accurate and in order (Driver info, Pick ticket-picker, pick ticket-checker, bill of lading, certifications, etc.). Scan and File all paperwork with its order # as the reference.
Keep track of all open orders and periodically inquire about their status, at the end of the shift he or she will communicate in person or via E-mail any information regarding open orders or partials. Printout of the shipping list indicating status (shipped, reserved, in progress, pending).

Education, Licenses and/or Experience:
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year on fast paced distribution facility or similar. Produce experience is a must. Any equivalent combination or experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
Minimum of 1 year on fast paced distribution facility or similar. Produce experience is a must. Any equivalent combination or experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Computer skills, i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. – Intermediate level. ERP/WMS proficient.
Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
Ability to problem solve, organized and multi-task.
Goal orientated tasking.
Collaborative, team-oriented style.
Good interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing marketplace.
Language Skills
Fluent in both English and Spanish is a plus (read/write/translate).
