Job Description:
Job Summary: A well-respected steel supplier, fabricator, and residential steel erector company is looking for a Structural Fitter to work in our custom steel fabrication shop. We’re looking for a hardworking individual who enjoys meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have a background in residential fittings and welds and will be willing to work on-site as well as visit job-sites to complete jobs for customers on time and on budget.
Essential Responsibilities:
Fit steel pieces together to make a finished product – arches, structural beams, columns, platforms, ladders, handrails, stairs, gratings, etc.
Create templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information.
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
Cut, contour, and bevel metal and structural shapes to dimensions as specified by blueprints, layouts, work orders, and templates.
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

Work Environment: This position works in a non-climate-controlled warehouse setting, with outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as box cutters and tape dispensers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time non-exempt hourly position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. All applicants must be able and willing to work overtime and weekends when required by management.
Required Experience:
2+ years’ experience working in a fabrication shop
Ability to read and interpret structural steel detail shop drawings
Ability to use an oxygen and acetylene cutting rig
Ability to use drills, cut off saws, metal saws, punches and plate rolls
