Overview
Centex Material Handling is a full service systems integrator—installing material handling systems. Systems include conveyors, overhead cranes, pallet racking, mezzanines, and many other material handling and storage products. Systems are installed at customers locations in the central Texas area.
This position requires a technical skilled candidate with good attention to detail and ensure that all parts are properly fitted, aligned with a great deal of precision and secured. A fabricator must be competent in using equipment following all safety precautions.
Primary Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
· Set up components and material requirements for welding & fabrication according to specifications
· Read and understanding product blueprints and assembly instructions.
· Verify dimensions and product specifications.
· Ensure quality control standards are met.
· Test products for their functionality.
· Report and detail product malfunctions.
· Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
· Set up components for welding according to specifications
· Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
· Weld components using manual welding equipment in various tubes and plates
· Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
· Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Physical Job Demands:
· Work environment will range from outside elements to climate controlled
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stooping, squatting, pulling
· Examples of equipment installed/repaired: overhead cranes, conveyors, dock equipment, mezzanines
· Shop environment; temperatures are variable with dramatic increase/decrease in response to the season
Requirements (includes, but not limited to):
Education & Experience
· High School Diploma or GED
· Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program required
· Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) a plus
· Architectural Guardrail and handrail experience a plus.
· Proven experience as fabricator (1-2 years of experience, certifications)
· Proven experience as welder (1-2 years of experience, Certificates)
· Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, etc.) and machine shop equipment
· Professional Certification a plus
Skills & Abilities
· Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
· Proficient in English
Preferred
· Military experience, welding, and trouble shooting skills
· OSHA 30 certified
· Overhead crane experience Preferred

Pay: $20.00 – $32.00 per hour
