Training and Safety Coordinator Full Time

Responsibilities
Training Coordination

On-The-Job Learning Management (OJL)

Maintains department procedures outlining the OJL process for new operators, lead operators, team managers, etc
Authors and maintains OJL curriculum (training plan) for trainees
Authors and maintains on-the-job learning checklists
Updates OJL training programs, as appropriate, to capture changes to standard operating procedures
Prepares OJL package and schedule for new or transferred employees and provides to trainee/Team Manager
Documents and facilitates OJL committee sign-off meetings, ensuring committee consists of at least two “knowledgeable personnel” as defined by GOP-G-20
Maintains system to document OJL progression and notifies supervision if behind schedule
Audits the knowledge and performance of trainees to ensure consistency of training across shifts
Ensures apprentices’ existing OJL packages are updated if changes are made to OJL content during the apprenticeship
Refresher Training Management

Maintains department procedure outlining the department refresher training process
Authors and maintains materials for refresher training knowledge assessments and field assessments as outlined in GOP-G-39
Updates refresher training programs, as appropriate, to capture changes to standard operating procedures
Maintains system to track refresher training status for each operator and prompt prior to expiration
Maintains system to ensure and documentation to show that each operator has reviewed all procedures applicable to the job
Coordinates development of study material for recertification knowledge assessments
Training Records Management

Files a copy of the OJL training plan, completed OJL checklists, and committee sign-off certifications in individual employee training files and disposes of records once past the required retention period outlined in GOP-G-20
Files completed “Refresher Training Approval Sheets” in individual employee training files and disposes of records once past the required retention period outlined in GOP-G-39
Ensures onboarding safety discussions are completed and documented per GOP-P-03
Procedures

Maintains system to document ASPM/GOP/TEP revisions and periodically reviews with department management to determine if department procedural updates or training is required
Maintains system to ensure and document that each operator has reviewed all procedures applicable to the job
Authors and maintains training-related procedures, training manuals, and other procedures as required by department management
Authors and maintains expectations for trainers and trainees
Training

Writes training memos and executes specialized training as requested by department management
Periodically reviews outstanding training memos to ensure that relevant material has been incorporated into an SOP if appropriate
Documents required My Learning Lab modules for each role in the department and works with Division or Site MLL coordinator to assign modules
Identifies any inconsistencies between department OJL training and Related Instruction and works to reconcile via the Training Coordinators Team
Employee Onboarding

Reviews and documents expectations for trainees, trainers, and safety mentors as part of onboarding process
Ensures that appropriate departmental My Learning Lab modules are assigned to all new employees (including operators, engineers, management, etc.)
Schedules onboarding safety discussions with department personnel (DH, AM, HSE, etc.)
Safety
Safety Coordination

Attend monthly Safety meetings to share best practices, learnings, and implementation ideas associated with Safety initiatives across the site
Communicate with and work closely with Manufacturing EOD/Safety Leader
Participate on assigned teams related to Safety issues and initiatives
Attend Safety conferences as recommended by supervision and/or the EOD/Safety Leader Coordinator’s Team and incorporate learnings and best practices back into the operating area
Manage and audit the use of Safety recurring task processes
Observe and routinely reinforce individuals for demonstrating good behaviors related to Safety compliance
Serve as the operating area expert on personal safety and process safety
Act as a champion for personal and process safety in the assigned operating area(s)
Oversee the use of the MySafety system for the department, including attending safety meetings as available, reviewing and tracking data, etc
Aid Crew Safety Rep’s. (CSR’s) in reviewing and tracking Safety and Health Concerns and Near Misses, and work to drive recommendations to resolution
Train and assist CSR’s as necessary
Support the implementation of BeSAFE projects and perform final reviews of projects before submission into the system
Serve as the operating area point of contact for SHAPE, VPP, and other safety audits
Author, update, and review selected safety-related procedures as required by the department
Update SOPs to incorporate ASPM, GOP, and TXO Emergency Plan changes
Provide training to assigned department for site-wide safety based initiatives, safety policy, and procedure changes
Maintain department safety equipment, such as respirators, radios, LEL meters, intrinsically safe devices, etc., as required
Manage the car-seal/relief device block valve process as required by the department
Author and revalidate Job Hazard Analyses, as necessary
Maintain safety-related measures as needed by the department
