TGH is the area’s only level I trauma center and one of just two ABA-verified adult & pediatric burn centers in Florida. With five medical helicopters*, we transport critically injured or ill patients from 23 surrounding counties to receive the advanced care they need. Department Profile

The Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Units feature a admit/discharge unit, complex medicine, joint replacement, orthopedics, medical observation unit, neuroscience, oncology, primary care, specialty surgery, the nursing rehab unit, the Acute Care for the Elderly Unit (ACE), Adult Stepdown Unit, cardiac observation, cardiac telemetry, CV Center, and cardiovascular telemetry. TGH has 604 Medical-Surgical/Telemetry beds. These units value the art and science of nursing and offer a high level of interaction with patients and families.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, follows established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, performing customer service, receptionist and clerical/ secretarial activities. Serves as a communication resource for patients, visitors, family, and health care team members with the ability to triage communication priorities. Answers the telephone and patient intercom system. Alerts nursing staff to patient and family concerns and other calls, orders supplies and stock items as required. Keeps unit neat and organized. Also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Skills

High school diploma or GED required. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of customer service excellence, basic computer skills and communicates effectively both verbally and in writing required. Hospital experience preferred.
