Six departments make up Facilities Management: Design and Construction, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Operations, Planning, and Services. The Facilities Management Division is part of the Office of Administrative Services.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to manage and oversee custodial services for an assigned area of campus during an assigned shift. This position is responsible for executing university and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining custodial programs, staff training, and inspection of work performed. This position works closely with the supervisor and the university community to monitor the consistency and quality of custodial services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise multiple teams of custodial workers, coordinating daily routine duties with both planned and unplanned assignments. Recommend, develop, and enforce policies and procedures. Hire, train, and evaluate staff on their technique, performance, and the results they produce.
Provide quality control by inspecting facilities and furnishings to ensure they are consistently maintained to university standards.
Ensure chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment are provided to custodial workers and are in good working order.
Respond promptly to customer inquiries, take corrective action when necessary, and provide follow up to the customer.
Perform administrative duties such as daily attendance, key rosters and time tickets. Assist the Assistant Manager with various administrative duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
The position requires a high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Prefer experience supervising a large custodial staff in a healthcare, commercial, or educational setting using various types of floor cleaning equipment. Prefer knowledge of the use and operation of floor care and specialty housekeeping equipment. This it to include, but not limited to auto scrubbers, extractors, buffers, and floor strippers.

Please note: This position is for 1st Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
This position may require lifting between 25 and 50 pounds, pushing and pulling, bending, walking, standing for long periods of time, both indoor and outdoor conditions, occasional warehouse environment and the regular daily use of a variety of custodial equipment for the duration of the assigned shift.
Essential personnel are generally defined as employees critical to ensure the operations of essential functions of the department. Additionally, on a case by case basis, staff members may be designated as essential by management based on the nature of the emergency and/or the availability of other personnel. Individuals identified as essential personnel, may be expected to be on-site regardless of the employee’s normal work schedule. In Services, the Grounds and Custodial staff are determined as essential.
