What you get to do:
As a Zoo Aide/Attendant, you will provide skilled, knowledgeable support for our year-round park operational needs. You will:
Care and maintenance of a variety of species including but not limited to: mammals, birds, and fish
Cleaning and maintenance of the zoological areas within the Jungala realm
Prepare diets and enrichment and provide them appropriately
Able to operate mowers, weed eaters, pruning tools and other varied equipment
Interact with park guests and give engaging guest presentations
Daily record keeping
Animal care and habitat maintenance for a variety of species; involving cleaning, raking, sweeping, mowing, diet preparation, maintenance of husbandry equipment, etc.
What it takes to succeed:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a Driver’s License and be able to meet Busch Gardens driving guidelines
Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours a week to include holidays, nights, and weekends
2 years’ experience in a zoological setting preferred
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, procedural manuals, written materials pertaining to husbandry and animal management
Strong Animal Husbandry and Operant Conditioning skills are preferred
Excellent observational skills with the ability to work in a changing environment
Robust written and verbal communication skills to include public speaking and efficient team communication
Swimming and snorkeling skills
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds, bend, stoop or climb
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
Must be able to work outdoors in heat and humidity
