Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Solid Waste Division provides curbside collection of garbage, yard waste, and recyclable materials and the operation and maintenance of the Orange County Landfill, two transfer stations, and recycling processing operations. The landfill is the largest publically owned and operated landfill in the State of Florida.
The Solid Waste Division is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Weighmaster. This position weighs vehicles and calculates the tipping fees utilizing a computer operated scale system at four (4) locations.
This position requires applicants to take and pass the Weighmaster Test (Basic Math) with a minimum score of 70%.
Only applicants that meet the minimum qualifications will be contacted to sit for this test. Qualified applicants will receive notification of their eligibility to participate via the email address provided on the application. The email will contain instructions on how to register for a test time and date. All applicants are responsible to include a current email address prior to submitting the application. Testing dates, locations and times are subject to change so it is important to check your email on a regular basis including the junk/spam folders.

Representative Duties
Performs record keeping duties such as handing cash drawer and reconciling monies daily.
Chooses appropriate rate for materials as specified on rate sheet.
Estimates cash deposit amounts for cash customers.
Processes transactions and issues receipts.
Assesses penalty charges for uncovered loads.
Sirens incoming waste for prohibited materials, medical wastes and notifies environmental staff of suspect loads of inspections.
Operates computerized scale system.
Chooses appropriate material codes, entering vehicle ID and other appropriate information into the system.
Answers customer’s questions or refers them when necessary.
Interact with customers on a regular basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one (1) year of experience performing record keeping
or cashier duties; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and the ability to deal effectively with irate customers. Must perform the Weighmaster test with a minimum score of 70%.

Hours/Days of Work: Sunday – 7:45 am – 5:45 pm
Monday – 7:45 am – 5:45 pm
Thursday – 6:45 am – 4:45 pm
Friday – 3:45 am – 1:45 pm
(Will include some holidays and special events)
The selected applicant must submit to a pre-employment physical/drug test and a background investigation that includes but is not limited to fingerprinting and a polygraph examination before the start of employment.
