This is a temporary position expected to start on January 15, 2021 through May 17, 2021.
Business Title: Courier
Responsible for the daily operational support for University-sponsored quarantine and isolation housing. Includes logistical coordination and customer service responsibilities. The goal of the position is to provide safe and supportive housing for resident students directed to isolate or quarantine by providing exemplary customer service and ensuring spaces are adequately stocked and a student’s needs during quarantine/isolation are met.
As part of the University’s COVID-19 response, housing is provided both on and off campus for resident students who need to quarantine or isolate as directed by Student Health Service and/or University Contact Tracing. This position will provide customer service to students by ensuring rooms are prepared for assignment and by making deliveries as needed to students. This position also travels to off-site locations when necessary to complete assigned deliveries. The position reports to the COVID-19 Task Force team leaders. This position requires in-person work at the Coral Gables campus, student residence halls, and off-campus quarantine/isolation sites. No direct contact with persons in isolation is expected.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspects and restocks sanitized rooms and ensures all standards are met prior to assigning students.
Responds to requests from students and/or COVID-19 Task Force members for deliveries. The nature of deliveries includes, but not limited to, meals and refreshments, linens, textbooks, over the counter medications (as directed by Student Health), toiletries, or items from student rooms.
Maintains confidentiality at all times during the course of delivery and thereafter.
Plans and follows the most efficient routes for delivering goods.
Maintains records of items received and delivered, as well as the recipient.
Updates records, provides proper documentation, and clear written and oral communication to colleagues, students, and other constituents.
Remains accessible at all times via telephone and/or email.
Responds in a timely manner to phone calls or requests for assistance or information.
Resolves complex and unusual problems and communicates solution or requested information to the customer. Verifies that appropriate changes/resolutions have been finalized.
Completes other duties related to the management of quarantine/isolation housing and its residents.
Requires in-person work, compliance with University policies related to health, safety, and PPE use.
Requires light to moderate walking and the lifting of light to moderate objects.
Requires the ability to drive a University vehicle.
Requires familiarity with Microsoft office and the ability to learn related software platforms quickly.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida driver’s license
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
